Laura Watts (formerly Laura Kahle) is an American musician and composer raised in Queensland, Australia. Now living in Easton, PA and NYC, she performs on pocket trumpet. Laura is primarily a composer and arranger for small to large ensembles. A participant in the 2012 Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute and a 2014 New Music USA Project grant Awardee, Laura’s most recent recording, “Elicit Inquest,” was released in October of 2014.
A performing member of Bill Lee and the Natural Spiritual Orchestra, as well as arranger and performer with the Watts Family Reunion, Laura’s arrangements have been performed by Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra , The Danish Radio Big Band and the Branford Marsalis Septet.
She is currently working with her and her husband Jeff’ Tain Watts’ record label and getting the College Hill studio together. Jeff released his CD on June 2nd of this year.
